Bleeding Heart: Another One Bites the Dust
Poetry that should have never made it out of my draft but somehow did (2024)
Another love story taken off the chart
Another broken heart transformed to art
With hopes that with time, it will mend
But when does it ever end?
When will this heart learn
That love is a prize it will never earn?
Would it take another hit
Before it realises it doesn’t deserve love?
Probably doesn’t even need it
When will it learn that it will never be enough
It can act all nonchalant and tough
But every blow, every hit, leaves it broken and rough
Leaves it doubting and hating on love and that kind of stuff
Calling every promise and love-offer a bluff
Building nests of solitude and loneliness
And making jests of love declaration and pledges.
Cause broken hearts don’t leave pieces
They leave jagged edges
Edges used as wedges
To split apart another’s heart.
And the scream from a bleeding soul never ceases
It keeps going on and on, for as long as it pleases.
Until pieces of me handed over to different people over the years
Come back to haunt me
And tears from my heart but not my eyes
Wash up memories long forgotten to taunt me
While fears of failures stunt my quest for true love
As the realities of what such love could mean, daunt me.
Bleeding hearts are home to dread
Starving spirits don’t care about bread
A hungry stomach isn’t interested in the number of books read.
And famished souls won’t rest until they’re fed
Or so it is said.
To heal what can’t be seen,
You mustn’t follow your head
But by the unseen you must be led
Until you approach the riverbed
Where tears were once shed
But now the water runs red.
For there lies a heart that once bled
A heart that is now dead
This heart might never again learn to trust
Or maybe it will, but only at a great cost.
And so it is
Another love story lost to the sand of time
Another heartbreak tale forced to rhyme
How do they say it?
oh, ‘another one bites the dust.’

You are the only reason why I have this account in the first play.
You always make it worth it.
PS : I know it's from 2024 but it does hit close to home right now. Lovely piece
